In the early 1970s, Mr. Abdul Rahman Muftah Al Muftah – a visionary young Qatari entrepreneur – embarked on a mission to contribute meaningfully to his nation’s progress. As Chairman of Al Muftah Group, a Forbes-listed multi-billion-dollar conglomerate and one of Qatar’s most respected business houses, his leadership left a lasting mark on the country’s business landscape.

The journey began in 1971, when Mr. Al Muftah, alongside his trusted associates, Mr. A.K. Usman and the late Mr. K.P. Abdul Hameed, founded Al Muftah Rent A Car. At that time, car rental was an unfamiliar concept in Qatar.

Guided by Mr. Abdul Rahman Muftah Al Muftah’s foresight and leadership, Al Muftah Rent A Car quickly rose to prominence as the country’s leading vehicle leasing provider, known for its international fleet, professional services, and full-service garage. Building on this foundation, the Al Muftah Group diversified into Real Estate, Transport, Packing & Moving, and General Services, steadily expanding into a multi-sector enterprise that has played a pivotal role in Qatar’s economic growth.

Today, Al Muftah Group continues to uphold the pioneering spirit of its founder – driven by innovation, committed to service excellence, and aligned with the nation’s long-term vision.

Trivia: While working with Jaidah, Mr. Usman and Mr. Hameed were approached by an Italian contractor, Intap, in need of rental vehicles. Recognising the opportunity, they offered their personal cars – an initiative that marked the birth of the car rental industry in Qatar.
